Looking for a Great Summer Destination? Then try one of our Fuerteventura Holidays

The island with the longest beaches in the Canaries, Fuerteventura is the perfect place for anyone looking for a relaxing beach holiday. Like the other Canary Islands, Fuerteventura’s climate makes it a perfect place for winter, as well as summer, sun. Fuerteventura holidays tend to be on the quieter side when compared to the lively resorts in neighbouring islands, making them perfect for families with young children. That doesn’t mean it’s dead after dark though – there are still plenty of bars and restaurants to keep night-owls happy.
The most popular resort is Corralejo. This really is the perfect place for beach lovers, as it’s surrounded by large beaches and sand dunes, which form a nature reserve. In the centre of the pretty old town is another small, sandy beach. Facilities on all the beaches are great, and geared up to families – with all lots of sunbeds, restaurants, shops and activities. For a change of scene on your Corralejo holiday, get the glass-bottomed boat over to the small island of Lobos. This is an almost uninhabited island just a short ride from the town, perfect for indulging your kids’ Robinson Crusoe fantasies! Caleta del Fuste is another great family beach, with gently shelving sand and plenty of watersports and activities to stave off children’s boredom. El Cotillo is just developing, and at the moment still has plenty of wild charm, although it’s sure to develop into a more modern resort in the coming years.
While the beaches in Fuerteventura are the main draw for many, don’t forget that the island has many other attractions. The volcanic interior can make for a surprisingly good day trip, and it’s possible to venture up the mountains in 4x4s, and even visit a live volcano in the Timanfaya National Park. If you’d rather stay at sea level, then dolphin spotting or fishing boat trips are easy to arrange.
